The 17-year-old opened up about it on Oprah: Where Are They Now? saying, โ€œBefore the event actually took place I came to mum and said, โ€˜I would like to do this for myself and for everyone else.โ€

Bindi was just eight when she spoke in front of over 5 000 people โ€“ as well as millions on television.

โ€œI just personally wanted to say to the world, to anyone watching, anyone who wanted to hear it, that we would be carrying on. And thatโ€™s what weโ€™ve chosen to do,โ€ she says.

โ€œWe dwell on the happiness in life and just try to remind ourselves of dad in every way possible. I think in a way you can still feel him at the zoo.โ€
