“I really want to make him as proud as possible,” Bindi Irwin on paying tribute to her dad

Set to become the first contestant on the next season of the US version of Dancing with the Stars seemed to be a surprise move for Bindi Irwin, who has spent most of her life wrestling crocodiles in Khaki.

In an interview with People Bindi revealed that no matter where life takes her, she’ll always be trying to make her dad proud.

“My dad will always be with me in spirit,” [the 17-year-old[(http://www.womansday.com.au/celebrity/australian-celebrities/bindi-irwin-celebrates-17th-birthday-13202)told the magazine.

She added: “Embarking on this journey, I really want to make him as proud as possible.”

Despite, not being much of a dancer herself, Bindi did admit that she won’t have to compete too hard to surpass her dad’s ballroom skills.

“He didn’t have any extraordinary moves,” she quipped, but there’s no doubt Steve’s penchant for adventure will shine through in her as the young Aussie steps way out of her comfort zone.

“I’ve never been known for dancing. I’ve never danced in my life, and it’s very exciting,” she told the mag.

Before continuing: “And I hope that while I’m trying this new and exciting adventure, I’m able to inspire others to take a chance and seize an opportunity in their own lives.”

No matter what, Bindi just wants to make her dad proud!

Bindi will be in good company for season 21 of Dancing with the Stars USA as former Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and homemaker extraordinaire Paula Deene have also been announced as cast members.

The environmental conservationist revealed her DWTS news on Good Morning America earlier this week and explained, “I am really, really excited and so honoured to be a part of this new journey and chapter in my life.”

“it’s so different than anything I’ve ever done. I am used to wrangling crocodiles,” she said.

And if you’re wondering how the Queenslander is feeling about trading in her Khakis for ball gowns, “We always say khaki is an attitude. You can’t climb trees that well in a dress!”
