Bindi Irwin and her new husband Chandler Powell have received a “beautiful” gift from Aussie actor and family friend, Russell Crowe.
While the 56-year-old Gladiator star, who has long been a friend of the Irwin family, was unable to attend Bindi and Chandler’s last-minute wedding at Australia Zoo on the Sunshine Coast last month due to the government’s social distancing rules, he made sure he commemorated the happy couple’s special milestone with the perfect gift for the nature-loving newlyweds.
Taking to Instagram, Bindi shared a lovely photo of herself and Chandler posing beside Russell’s wedding present – a fig tree.
Coincidentally, the wedding gift arrived on the same day as Russell’s own birthday.
”Happy Birthday, @russellcrowe 💙You’ll always be part of our family,” Bindi wrote on Instagram, alongside the cute pic.
“Even though we can’t see you right now, we’re giving the beautiful fig you gifted us a hug and thinking of you. Hope your day is extraordinary.”

Bindi and Chandler’s wedding was a last-minute affair pulled together quickly after Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced new social distancing rules that put a limit on the number of people allowed to attend a wedding.
Weddings in Australia are now restricted to no more than five people in attendance.
This means that the couple, celebrant and two witnesses are the only ones permitted to be at the celebration and the four-square-metre rule and social distancing practices must be adhered to.
“We held a small ceremony and I married my best friend. There are no words to describe the amount of love and light in my heart right now,” Bindi wrote on Instagram about her experience, alongside a beautiful photo of herself and Chandler on their special day.
She explained that as a result of the new crackdowns put in place due to the coronavirus pandemic, her and Chandler’s wedding plans had to be changed.
“We’ve planned this beautiful day for nearly a year and had to change everything, as we didn’t have guests at our wedding. This was a very difficult decision but important to keep everyone safe. We wish all of our friends and family could have been there with us, however it’s lovely that we will be able to share photos and videos.”
“Right now we’re encouraging the world to hold onto hope and love, which will carry us forward during this profound time in history,” Bindi added before revealing more details from the big day.
“Today we celebrated life and revelled in every beautiful moment we shared together in our Australia Zoo gardens. Mum helped me get ready, Robert walked me down the aisle, Chandler became my husband and together we lit a candle in Dad’s memory. We shared tears and smiles and love.”
“Thankfully, since we all live at Australia Zoo as a family, we could be there for each other. To everyone reading this – stay safe, social distance and remember LOVE WINS!”

Bindi and Chandler met in 2013, when the champion wakeboarder from central Florida turned up for a tour of Australia Zoo in Beerwah, Queensland, which was guided personally by a then-15-year-old Bindi.
The pair fell in love at first sight, and after a long-distance relationship, Chandler moved in with the Irwins at Australia Zoo.
After six years of dating, the couple became engaged last July.
Bindi’s father Steve Irwin passed away in 2006 at age 44, after being pierced in the chest by a stingray while filming a wildlife documentary in Queensland.
