Bindi’s back! DWTS winner returns to Queensland

“For us, we donate everything back to wildlife conservation. So everything that I make goes straight back to wildlife conservation, which is really wonderful."

Bindi Irwin has returned to her home state of Queensland, bearing a fat donation for the Australia Zoo wildlife conservation fund.

Bindi landed at Brisbane airport with her mother Terri and brother Robert yesterday after her triumphant victory on the US version of Dancing With The Stars, which has made her a grand star in America.

News Ltd reports that Bindi, 17, came through customs wearing thongs, after her poor feet were battered in competition.

Bindi won $230,000 (AU$322,000) in prize money on the show, but has to pay taxes in the US and Australia.

She told the waiting media: “For us, we donate everything back to wildlife conservation. So everything that I make goes straight back to wildlife conservation, which is really wonderful. But what’s interesting is after you pay tax to everything else, with Australia and all these other places, that actually it doesn’t add up to be that much,” Bindi laughed.

“So it looks to be a good number, but it’s not actually that much.”
