Luckily for Bindi, Derek Hough has taken on that role and now the 17-year-old has paid tribute to the man she’s labelled her “big brother.”
Taking to Instagram the wildlife warrior shared a raw and emotional message to Derek alongside a picture of the pair embracing.
“Thank you so so much for all of your support. No matter what happens @derekhough manages to make every day in the studio fun. Even when I’m super tired he gives me strength and encourages me to keep trying my best and always believe.”
“You’re the greatest big brother I could ever ask for. You’ve changed my life and I promise to keep trying my hardest to truly help show the world what incredible dances you create.”
She ended the tribute with, “thank you for inspiring me each day.”
Derek has been on Dancing with the Stars for 16 seasons, winning the mirror ball five times and if Bindi’s breath-taking performances are anything to go by, he may be taking it home again!
Shortly before the Queenslander posted her tribute to Derek, the wildlife warrior also honoured the other great man in her life – her dad, Steve Irwin.
Bindi posted an image of her younger self with her parents and a cute little Quokka.
“How blessed I am that these are my childhood memories.”
