Bindi has had her Dancing with the Stars contract rejected by a US court because she needs to prove her dad, Steve Irwin, is dead.
TMZ reports that because the wildlife warrior is only 17, the law requires her parents to sign a Minor’s Contract, meaning they will give up all rights to any money earned by their child.
Terri has already singed the form but an LA Superior Court Judge has rejected the contract because Bindi’s dad, the late Steve Irwin, hasn’t signed it and they need proof that he actually died.
“The court is unable to find that it is in the best interest of the minor to be bound by the terms of the contract,” the Judge said.
It is not yet clear whether the Judge knows Bindi’s dad died in a tragic 2006 stingray accident or if he’s just playing by the rules.
This news is no doubt difficult to swallow for Bindi, who for the past eight weeks has blown us away on the dance floor with her partner Derek Hough, while paying tribute to her beloved dad.
However, TMZ reports that the show’s lawyers are doing everything they can to get the contract through the courts.
And once they do, Bindi will have earned a very impressive pay cheque.
The news website revealed that the 17-year-old was guaranteed $175,000 when she started the competition but it increases by $42,000 AUD for every week she stays, and that figure further inflates to $70,000 in the final two weeks.
This means Bindi has already raked in about $320,000!
