The 17-year-old is the first contestant set to take part on the new season of the reality show.
The eldest child of Steve Irwin revealed her exciting new venture on Good Morning America.
“I am really, really excited and so honoured to be a part of this new journey and chapter in my life,” the teen gushed.
Admitting, “It’s so different than anything I’ve ever done. I am used to wrangling crocodiles.
“I just returned from our annual crocodile research trip in far north Queensland catching crocs and now I am in New York and then LA.”
But the inspiring Aussie is exceptionally excited at the thought of swapping her famous khakis for the glamorous outfits usually worn on the show – even if it is just for a moment.
“We always say khaki is an attitude. You can’t climb trees that well in a dress!” Bob’s older sister laughed.
Like her famous crocodile hunter dad, Bindi adores the outdoors and pursuing crazy animal adventures but it seems the thought dancing has the wildlife crusader a little nervous.
“I have to say the judges scare me more than crocodiles!” Bindi joked. She then hinted that she might pull out some of her croc moves on the dance floor.
“I’m gonna try it but not sure how my dance partner will feel about it,” she giggled.
Bindi will be like a fish to water, having a little dancing experience when she was a tot dancing with her own group, The Jungle Girls.
Australia Zoo describes the youngster as someone who loves to sing and dance “about wildlife” and to raise conservation awareness.
The teen took to Facebook to share her exciting news, writing:
“I am unbelievably thrilled and truly blessed to be in the City of Angels to be part of this season of Dancing With The Stars! This will be a completely new adventure for me and I’m excited to share my journey.”
Adding, “Life is about daring to dream, I’m in love with this city and ready to fall in love with the music and dance to come.”
