Returning from LA with the mirror ball trophy in her suitcase and an extra $AU322,000 in her bank account, it’s pretty clear there’s only two things on Bindi’s mind, celebrating her brother’s birthday and getting back into her beloved khaki get-up.

December 1st marks a very special occasion in the Irwin calendar, Bob’s birthday and his big sister made sure she paid tribute to her sidekick.

“Happy birthday to the greatest brother on earth,” the wildlife warrior wrote on Instagram alongside a sweet picture of the duo.

“I can’t believe that it was an entire 12 years ago today when I met my little brother for the first time.”

Bindi Irwin won the US version of Dancing with the Stars last week with her professional dancing partner, Derek Hough.

“Since that day he has grown up to be the smartest and most amazing boy on earth. Being a big sister is the greatest job of all. I love you so much, Robert. And I’ll be here for you forever,” she added.

On Tuesday morning The Irwins also chatted to the Today Show from their home at Australia Zoo in celebration of Bob’s birthday and Bindi’s return.

There wasn’t a ball gown in sight either, with the 17-year-old looking very comfortable in her casual work attire.

“I feel like I’ve just woken up from this incredible dream,” she revealed, “It was such a wonderful night and for me to have my family with me every step of the way meant the most.”

“For someone who is known for wildlife conservation and not dancing, it was an incredible journey.”

Welcome home Bindi!
