This September marks a decade since Aussie icon Steve Irwin tragically passed away after being struck in the heart by a stingray whilst filming an underwater documentary.

His family have since made it their mission to carry on his admirable legacy, and on Saturday, Steve’s wife Terri, his daughter Bindi and her younger brother Robert stepped out in Los Angeles for a gala benefit in his honour.

It’s an event held annually in Australia, but for the first time ever the Irwins hosted the star-studded bash at the JW Marriott in LA.

Swapping their khakis for something a little less comfortable, Bindi looked absolutely stunning in a white dress adorned with black leaf detailing.

Her mother glowed in a figure-hugging, scrunched metallic frock, and little Bob, who isn’t actually so little anymore, was the spitting image of his dad in a black tux accessorised by the huge python he held throughout the evening.

Bob, 12, is a spitting image of his dad.

Bindi was joined by her long-term boyfriend, Chandler Powell.

Of course, Bindi’s charming boyfriend Chandler Powell suited up to support his girlfriend, as did her Dancing With The Stars dance partner, Derek Hough, who even took the competition winner for a few twirls as they made their way along the red carpet.

And the A-list guests didn’t stop there. Olivia Newtown John even stepped out to support the Wildlife Warriors – a gesture that didn’t go unnoticed by Bindi.

A little twirling never hurt anyone!

“For me, tonight feels so good because it’s honestly like my extended family is all here. It just feels so complete,” the 17-year-old added.

“I have my beautiful family. My wonderful boyfriend is here tonight; our Dancing with the Stars family; Olivia Newton John is here.”

“It’s just everybody that I love so much, and that our family loves so much. So it is the best event, and I think that Dad’s spirit is really kind of living on in all of us,” she said to People.

Australia’s biggest names stepped out to support the cause.

Speaking of her similarities to her incredible father, the brunette beauty said, “I think that Dad was so wonderful because he was like this human hurricane – I can see a lot of that in myself.”

“I’m not a very patient person. If I want to do something, I have to do it right now! I kind of share the same love for all wildlife, and all wild places. I think those similarities are really, really strong.”

Putting in her two cents, mum Terri agreed. “I see the determination with Bindi, that she was just like Steve.”

“Nothing would stop Steve when his mind was set on something, and Bindi’s a bit like that as well.”

Terri, Bindi and Robert will commemorate ten years since their hero’s death on September 4th.

“We are here with a message and a purpose, and our reasoning is to really spread that message of wildlife and conservation. To have Dad’s message reach so many people – that’s exactly what we’ve always wanted, and it does mean everything.”
