Beyoncé took her daughter Blue Ivy Carter to last week’s MTV VMA Awards and at the time it seemed like the whole world was in awe at how adorable she looked.
But a few days on it has come to light, via Huffington Post, that there were some much more negative reactions on social media.
Many people tweeted about how “ugly” they thought Blue Ivy was following her red carpet appearance.
“So are we all just supposed to pretend that Blue Ivy isn’t ugly as hell forever?,” Twitter user @keltheyrich posted.
HuffPo highlighted that this is exactly how children develop self-esteem issues. Imagine when Blue Ivy is old enough to understand this backlash? Imagine how it must feel for Beyoncé, as her mother, to have to read it?
Many people have called out the insults as acts of racism.
While others stuck up for her and slammed the people who thought it was OK to publicly bully a child over their appearance.
More of those kinds of opinions, please.
