Bette Midler’s new album, It’s The Girls, honours girl groups

Singer and actress Bette Midler has announced her new album that honours a range of girl groups.

The 68-year-old star took to Twitter to share the news with fans: “Yours truly is announcing my first album in years honouring some of the great girl groups of all time!! #ItsTheGirls”

There are songs spanning seven decades on the album, from ’30s trios The Boswell Sisters and The Andrews Sisters to ’90s act TLC.

“I have loved the sound of females harmonising since I was a kid; I always sang along. Didn’t we all?” Midler told Billboard.

“I think the idea that you could become part of the group was the thing that endeared me to the girl groups. You weren’t just singing along, you were THERE!”
