The NFL extravaganza is usually the most watched television event in the U.S. each year but it’s not just the football that has people tuning in.
The hyped-up halftime show spectacular and the ludicrously expensive commercials mean that the Super Bowl lures in over 100 million viewers and anytime you have more than 200 million eyeballs focused on anything advertisers take notice.
According to Variety, this year big brands dropped a cool $4.5 million to secure a 30 second slot in the TV event – that’s $150,000 per second! Yikes!
With the stakes so high companies understandably treat the production of these commercials like feature films and some have gone down in history as the most iconic ads ever.
