Bec and Lleyton living apart

The couple will this year face their toughest test as Lleyton continues to tour the world and Bec stays home with the children.

Lleyton Hewitt is famous for his on-court battles but now he’s fighting another, far more furious battle a lot closer to home. Relations are said to be strained between the Aussie tennis champ and his wife of five years, Bec Hewitt, who is adamant they return here to live following this year’s Australian Open.

After years of supporting Lleyton, 29, on the international circuit, former Home And Away star Bec, 27, wants to be closer to her family and is determined to relocate from their Bahamas base to the family’s home in Sydney. And for now, at least, it seems she’s the one who has the advantage.

“Whenever Lleyton has played overseas, Bec has been there to support him, but that’s over for now – he’ll be battling on alone at least for the next six months,” says a tennis source, revealing Bec’s wish to settle into the Hewitts’ six-bedroom property at Kenthurst in northern Sydney, bought for $3 million in 2006.

With oldest child Mia, 5, about to start her first year of school, Bec has begun planning the move. According to friends, the natural homebody can’t wait to pack her passport away and start the next chapter of her life.

“Staying put is a big win for Bec because it means having stability for herself and her children,” says the source. “She is a nester, someone who dreams of waking up in the same bed every day of the week, eating breakfast at the same table, and for her kids to be surrounded by familiar toys and relatives who love them.”
