We thought new Bachelorette Sophie Monk got her big TV break while appearing on Popstars but turns out she’s been a star since the age of 12…
Adorable footage of Miss Monk appearing on Bert Newton‘s New Faces has surfaced from 1992. 12-year-old Sophie is introduced by Newton:
“She’s appeared on Northern Rivers Television, she’s been an extra in Skippy, and in commercials,” Newton begins.
“She’s studying jazz, tap and also acrobatic dancing. Her song is The Ugly Duckling.”
The rest, as they say, is history.
Soph beat out thousands of women for her chance to star on reality TV show Popstars in 2000, which followed her and bandmates, Belinda Chapple, Sally Polihronas, Katie Underwood and Chantelle Barry as they dominated the local charts as part of the group Bardot.
And now we can’t WAIT to see her as The Bachelorette.
“I’m looking for someone who’s loving, caring and funny,” the blonde beauty recently told OK! Magazine.
So, what else is Sophie looking for in her boyfriend-to-be?
“I want someone who has a job and whose self-esteem is good,” she explained.
Well, given Channel Ten have been inundated with applicants for Sophie’s series, we reckon she’s in with a good shot!
