Australia’s most famous supermodels

They've signed contracts worth millions and strutted catwalks all over the world - but above all else - these ladies prove Australia has some of the most beautiful women.

They might have been born in Australia but these models have went onto have successful careers, scoring some impressive campaigns and catwalk gigs.

Ever since Elle Macpherson graced the cover of Sports Illustrated in 1986, the world has taken notice of our Aussie beauties.

We take a look at some of our best homegrown supermodels.

David Jones, Victoria’s Secret, H&M and Swarovski – Miranda Kerr has represented some of the biggest brands and labels in the world. She landed on the scene after winning the 1997 Dolly Model Search at the tender age of 13. And 17 years later, she is still in demand.

Elle Macpherson (‘The Body”) is one of the original supermodels and has been on the cover of Sports Illustrated a record five times.

Jessica Hart is also of magazine competition alumni. The gap-toothed stunner won the Dolly magazine search in 2000 and now bases herself in New York.

After winning Channel Ten’s Search for a Supermodel competition in 2002, Nicole Trunfio transformed herself into one of Australia’s most sort after models.

The current face of David Jones Jessica Gomes is of Portuguese and Singaporean Chinese heritage. She is also a Sports Illustrated favourite.

Abbey Lee Kershaw was discovered by the Girlfriend magazine and has since built up an enviable resume modelling for brands like Prada, Gucci and Chanel.

Gemma Ward may have quit modelling and become a mother, but her career still remains exceptional. Appearing on the catwalk for brands including Vera Wang and Oscar de la Renta, she went on to score roles in the Australian film The Black Balloon and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

She might come from Sydney’s western suburbs, but Robyn Lawley has made herself a household name around the world fronting major campaigns for brands including Ralph Lauren. The Aussie beauty also has a popular food blog, “Robyn Lawley Eats” and swimwear line.
