Australian sporting royalty Ash Barty has stepped out in Melbourne for a glamorous awards event, with doting husband Garry Kissick on her arm and a jaw dropping $14,000 diamond wedding ring on her finger.
The grand slam champion was also adorned in a stunning black designer gown and high heels, with a gorgeous blue shawl draped over her shoulders in an effort to combat the Melbourne ‘chill’, and statement silver jewellery to complete the look.
Dubbed ‘the night of nights’ of Australian Tennis, the 2022 Newcombe Medals is an annual event held by Tennis Australia to recognise the most outstanding elite tennis players and ambassadors for the sport.
And despite her retirement, Ash won a record extending fifth Newcombe Medal, from a list of seven exceptional players shortlisted for the player of the year award.
Whilst Ash was a star attraction, her beloved beau Garry certainly looked the part, with a $21,000 Rolex wristwatch adorned on his wrist.
The special occasion marked one of only a handful public appearances the couple have made since secretly tying the knot to her long time love in a private ceremony in July 2022.
The intimate Queensland wedding was kept closely under wraps, with friends and family in attendance under strict instructions not to post anything on social media until the couple had posted themselves.
Ash announced the exciting news with a single post to Instagram on July 30, 2022, sharing a photo of her and her new husband on their wedding day in Queensland.
”Husband & Wife,” she captioned the beaming wedding day photo.
It’s understood the ceremony took place earlier that month, with Ash choosing to enjoy a few weeks of wedded bliss before sharing the news with the world.
Guests included Australian tennis stars Pat Rafter, Alicia Molik and Casey Dellacqua, according to the Courier Mail.
The wedding followed a nine-month engagement period, and took place five years after the couple first met at the Brookwater Golf Club in 2016.
After the pair ‘immediately clicked’ according to sources, they went public with their relationship a year later in 2017 when they attended the John Newcombe Awards together.
Garry is an aspiring professional golfer and works as the irrigation technician for the greens at the Brookwater Golf & Country Club in Brisbane.
