Just days after being crowned Wimbledon champion, tennis sweetheart Ash Barty has even more reason to smile.
Whisked away for a romantic getaway after her epic win, close friends are speculating longtime boyfriend Garry Kissick could be planning to get down on one knee and pop the question.
“If he does propose, it will be incredibly romantic, but without too much fanfare,” an insider tells Woman’s Day.
It’s hard to imagine a more touching moment than seeing Ash, 25, climb the stands in front of millions of people across the world into the arms of the man she lovingly refers to as her “cheeky and caring handsome boy”.
“It was like watching the final scene in a romantic movie – except this was real!” says the source.
“It was such a special moment knowing Ash is the first Aussie woman in 41 years since her hero Evonne [Goolagong Cawley] won Wimbledon – it’s one of those moments etched in sporting history.”

“Garry is the type of person to ask Ash’s dad Rob for her hand in marriage – he’s very old-fashioned,” says our insider.
“As a couple they’re a breath of fresh air. They really bring the best out in each other.”
Understandable, then, that Ash is believed to be “over the moon” about their future plans together.
And with so much to look forward to, the happy couple won’t take long to come back down to earth, with the tennis champ now setting her sights on Olympic gold.
