Arnold Schwarzenegger is the American dream personified with the 69-year-old boasting a stellar career in bodybuilding, acting and politics.
And in a new interview with Ad Week, the ambitious former Governor has confessed he would have been keen to throw his hat into the ring for the presidency.
“If I’d been born in America, I would’ve run,” the Austrian-born star told the publication.
“Because now? This was a very good time to get in the race,” the Republican added.
According to the US Constitution, a person can only run for the White House’s top spot if they were born in the country.
However the technicality didn’t stop the actor from getting into politics.
The Terminator actor served for two terms as the California governor and was fondly dubbed The Governator during his service.
If the father-of-five’s aspirations came to fruition, it might have meant Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton could have been facing off against the Hollywood heavyweight instead of Donald Trump.
Earlier in the month, Arnold lashed out at Donald Trump in a scathing Instagram post.
Arnold is a Republican but anti-Donald Trump.
“For the first time since I became a citizen in 1983, I will not vote for the Republican candidate for President,” he explained on October 8.
“I have been a proud Republican since I moved to America in 1968 and I heard Nixon’s words about getting the government off our backs, free trade, and defending our liberty with a strong military.”
“But as proud as I am to label myself a Republican, there is one label that I hold above all else – American,” he added.
“So I want to take a moment today to remind my fellow Republicans that it is not only acceptable to choose your country over your party – it is your duty,” it concluded.
