Manchester feels the love with Ariana Grande’s charity concert

On Sunday, June 4, 50,000 punters flocked to the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester for Ariana Grande’s One Love concert.

The pop singer hosted the charity performance in honour of those touched by the tragic terror attacks in Manchester last month, which killed 29 and injured around 150.

“I want to thank you for coming together and being so strong. The kind of love and unity you’re displaying is the medicine the world needs right now,” she announced.

Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Coldplay, Pharrell Williams, the Black Eyed Peas, Miley Cyrus, Robbie Williams, Little Mix and Niall Horan took to the stage, for free, helping raise over $AUD300, 000 for the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund.

Crowds were left gobsmacked when local music legend Liam Gallagher dropped by to perform his Oasis hit Live Forever, alongside Coldplay.

The empowering concert flowed with smiles and tears as dedications were made to all those affected by the tragedy.

Mumford and Son’s lead singer Marcus lead a one-minute silence, while Ariana dedicated a tear-jerking song to Olivia Campbell, a 15-year-old girl who was murdered in the horrifying attacks.

“Her mother told me Olivia wouldn’t want me to cry and would’ve wanted to hear the hits.”

Take That frontman, Gary Barlow, left the crowd with this message of hope: “We want to stand strong, look at the sky and sing loud and proud.”

The 23-year-old was joined by music’s biggest names, including Miley Cyrus.

The entire Take That gang took to the Manchester stage to share the love.

Justin Bieber announed, “God is good in the midst of the darkness. God is good in the midst of the evil. God is in midst, and he loves you and he is here for you.”

The event was organised in memory of the victims of the attack at an Ariana Grande concert on 22 May.

The singer has been very vocal with her support, saying, “For me, the most important responsibility we have on this entire planet is to take care of one another, and look at what we’re doing today and how amazing that is.”

Little Mix told the audience, “The song we have chosen to give you guys, we wrote together a few years ago, in the hope that it would empower people to stand together and to not let anything bring them down. Manchester, this is Wings.”

Katy Perry mused, “It’s not easy to always choose love, is it? Especially in moments like these. It can be the most difficult thing to do. But love conquers fear and love conquers hate. And that love that you choose will give you strength.”

Chris Martin wowed everyone with his energetic performance.

Black Eyed Peas took to the stage for the historical moment.
