Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway has revealed she’s not exempt from ageism in Hollywood.
The 32-year-old, who stars on the cover of GLAMOUR’s October Issue, told the magazine she is beginning to lose roles to actresses in their twenties.
“I can’t complain about it because I benefited from it,” said Hathaway.
“When I was in my early twenties, parts would be written for women in their fifties and I would get them.
“And now I’m in my early thirties and I’m like, ‘Why did that 24-year-old get that part?’ I was that 24-year-old once, I can’t be upset about it, it’s the way things are.”
But with an Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe under her belt, the Les Miserables star says she’s glad to be able to play a part in telling stories important to her “and if people go to see them you’ll be allowed to make more”.
