“It’s a real shock, he was one of the fittest men I’ve ever met – he’s swimming everyday,” David Hawley told the Daily Mail today.
Speaking of whether his brother had heart problems, David said: “No, no, not that we know of’, adding: ‘He’s so fit, I don’t understand.”
David’s comments come after the shock news of his brother’s death, aged just 46, of an apparent heart attack on Saturday, while on a business trip attending a conference in New York.
The Courier Mail reported that Angus was out to dinner with a friend when he suffered a cardiac arrest and then died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
David explained his shock at the sudden and unexpected heart attack, “He did go for a big swim in the morning, he trains very hard.”
“I think his body clock was round the wrong way and it just got everything round the wrong way and he’s over done it.”
Angus fathered four children with Nicole Kidman’s sister Antonia – Lucia, 16, Hamish, 14, James, 12, and Sybella, eight, before their 2007 split.
Both Angus and Antonia have since remarried since they went their separate ways and Angus tied the knot with Paddington fashion boutique owner Prue Fisher in 2011.
David described Prue as “devastated,” saying “it’s a huge hole in our lives.”
“They were absolutely devoted to each other and Prue’s relationship with Angus’s children was fantastic,” said David of Angus and his relationship with his wife.
“His wife adores him, and he adored her, his four children, it’s just so sad. It’s a tragic loss to our family and to his family, it’s just a nightmare.
“No matter what happens for the rest of her life, she’ll still be my sister-in-law.”
The family had only just recently endured the tragic shock death of Antonia and Nicole’s father Dr Antony Kidman, in September last year.
Our thoughts are with the Hawley and Kidman family at this difficult time.
