Angelina Jolie attended the New York premiere of her new film, First They Killed My Father, on Thursday. And it was a family affair!
The 42-year-old was joined at the Director’s Guild Theater by all six of her children — Maddox, 16, Pax, 13, Shiloh, 11, Zahara, 12, and 9-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne — as well as her formerly estranged father Jon Voight.
It’s understood the father-daughter duo failed to interact during the important event, however Jon’s support of the film marks a promising step forward in their tumultuous relationship.
Angelina reportedly mended fences with her father in 2010 at the urging of ex-husband Brad Pitt.
Speaking with Vanity Fair, the actress-turned-director explained that her dad, a fellow actor, was particularly helpful during the breakdown of her marriage.
“He’s been very good at understanding they needed their grandfather at this time,” she told the publication in July. “I had to do a therapy meeting last night and he was just around. He knows kind of the rule—don’t make them play with you. Just be a cool grandpa who’s creative, and hang out and tell stories and read a book in the library.”
The By The Sea actress chose a strapless Dior Haute Couture gown with an accordion pleated bodice for the important evening. She accented the subdued ensemble with a diamond necklace and earrings, a bold red lip and her famous tattoos.
Meanwhile, her children opted to wear tailored suits — except for Zahara, who broke the mold by wearing a black lace top, similarly-hued pants and ankle boots.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet, the passionate humanitarian opened up about working with her oldest son, Maddox, on the film. Of course, he helped his mum on set and worked as executive producer.
“[Maddox] is very studious, much more than I am,” she said. “When we did our notes in the production meetings, his were always better than mine. He’s very studious, but he’s got a wicked sense of humor and he’s very fun to be with.”
This time last year the Oscar-winning actress announced the breakdown of her marriage.
In a restrained, though revealing interview for the September issue of Vanity Fair, the brunette beauty opened up about how her children are coping with the split.
“It’s just been the hardest time, and we’re just kind of coming up for air,” she told the publication. “We’re all trying to do our best to heal our family.”
She added that the family are still “healing” from the events that led to the divorce.
“They’re not healing from divorce. They’re healing from some . . . from life, from things in life,” she said.

The U.N.Goodwill ambassador reportedly filed for divorce following a fight between Brad and Maddox, while the family was aboard a private jet. Several reports have indicated that Brad was “verbally abusive” and became “physical” with the 15-year-old as the altercation slowly spiralled out of control.
“Things got bad,” she admitted. “I didn’t want to use that word. . . . Things became ‘difficult.’”
Angelina went on to praise her “strong-minded” children for their bravery during the difficult time.
“They’re six very strong-minded, thoughtful, worldly individuals,” she said. “I’m very proud of them. They’ve been very brave. They were very brave.”
