Angelina Jolie’s admission: I never wanted to be a mother

If it wasn’t for one sudden moment of clarity in third-world Cambodia, the actress might never have had her six lovely kids in her life.

The actress has admitted that before she adopted her eldest child, Maddox, now 14, having children of her own was never on her radar.

Back then, she was an actress on the top of her game with plenty of humanitarian commitments and nothing much has changed there! Understandably Angie felt she had no time for babies.

Until one core-shaking moment changed everything.

In a new interview with Associated Press, the 40-year-old explained that while she was playing with Cambodian kids in the early 2000s during a United Nations trip, she was struck with a thought.

“It was suddenly very clear to me that my son was in the country, somewhere,” she said from the set of her new movie, First They Killed My Father, filmed in the impoverished South East Asian nation.

Angelina adopted Cambodian Maddox, now 14, in 2002.

Angelina made that thought a reality in 2002 when she adopted her first child, Maddox, from the village of Battambang.

“Mad” as she affectionately calls him, is now 14, and his charity, the Maddox Jolie Pitt Foundation helps fund healthcare and education in rural Cambodia. He’s also helping Mum while she directs the movie in his native country.

“It’s strange. I never wanted to have a baby. I never wanted to be pregnant. I never babysat,” she mused. “I never thought of myself as a mother.”

Fast-forward to 2016, and Angelina, along with hubby Brad Pitt, are famously parents a “rainbow family” of six kids.

There’s also Vietnamese-born Pax, 12, Ethiopian Zahara, 11, and biological kids Shiloh, 9, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 7.
