Amy Schumer’s commitment-phobic character in 2015 blockbuster Trainwreck was almost autobiographical – but it seems life for the once perennial single girl has changed dramatically.
The 34-year-old sent her fans into meltdown when she shared a picture on Twitter this morning of herself, her sister, and a mystery bloke at the White House in Washington DC. She captioned it “Fam and man at the White Hizzy”.
Internet sleuths soon identified him as Ben Hanisch, a 29-year-old furniture designer (we know, it’s so Carrie and Aidan from Sex and the City, right?!).
On New Year’s Day, Ben shared a sweet photo of his arm around his new girlfriend – with a caption that’s nothing short of adorable.
“Sometimes in life you get extremely lucky, and the smartest, funniest, most beautiful woman comes along when you least expect it,” he wrote. “Here’s to what adventures 2016 brings!”
Amy, who is famous for her dry sense of humour, couldn’t resist making a joke underneath the picture, responding with, “I’m pregnant. I didn’t know how else to tell you.”
All jokes aside, friends say they’ve never seen Amy so happy.
“She calls him her boyfriend and says he constantly tells her how pretty, sexy and perfect she is,” a source tells People magazine. “She feels like she’s hit the jackpot.”
Only recently, Amy told American TV host Barbara Walters that she didn’t see herself settling down and having a family.
“I would love those things… I hope that happens but I don’t know how realistic it is,” she said.
Apparently good things come to those who wait!
