In what has been one of the messiest divorces in Hollywood history, Amber Heard has withdrawn her request for temporary spousal support from estranged husband Johnny Depp.
According to reports from TMZ, the 30-year-old claims she thought it was standard practice to ask for the temporary support in divorce proceedings, but now she’s willing to ditch the request for a very important reason.
In court documents obtained by TMZ, Amber says she feels the support request is drawing attention away from her plight.
She says the issue of money is “being used against me to distract and divert the public away from the very serious real issue of domestic violence.”
A close friend of the leggy blonde’s recently told US Weekly: “This isn’t about money.
“All Amber did was try to get out of a marriage because she was suffering from abuse.”
But it’s only the temporary support she’s decided not to claim.
The actress says she still reserves the right to go after long-term financial support after the issues with her restraining order with her ex are sorted out.
The pair are due in court on June 17 to address the restraining order.
Here’s what we know about the complicated split so far… Post continues below.
Amber filed for divorce from Johnny on May 23 after just 15 months of marriage and requested the financial support.
It’s a request that the Alice Through the Looking Glass actor firmly denied.
Days later, Amber showed up bruised in court and claimed Johnny had allegedly assaulted her recently, and throughout their marriage.
