Amal, who has just joined Columbia University’s as a human rights professor, looked breathtaking, turning heads in a fitted deep blue dress with sheer lace panels and cut out embroidery.

Her husband, George, complimented her, donning a dark navy suit.

The power couple, who are known for their humanitarian efforts, showed their support for the new initiative which recognises those who worked to save Armenian lives during the country’s genocide 100 years ago.

“We really want people to get involved with 100 LIVES… to celebrate those that overcome adversity and give back to others, just as the Armenian community is doing in this centenary year,”George said, addressing the attendees.

“The humanity, generosity, strength and sacrifice shown by those who saved so many Armenians compels us to tell these stories.

“Now is the time to shine a light on those most extraordinary lives, to build on the lessons they teach us, and to express our gratitude for what they did.”

George, who is currently based in the big apple filming his latest movie, Money Monster, has also joined the initiative’s prize selection committee for the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity.
