George and Amal Clooney have stayed impressively tight-lipped since adding ‘parenthood’ to their résumés. But they’re finally lifting the lid on the role of a lifetime — if only a little.
Amal, 40, recently gave Vogue a glimpse into her new life as a parent to twins Alexander and Ella – born in June 2017 – for the magazine’s May cover story.
The human rights lawyer — who, mind you, speaks three languages — revealed that the tiny tot’s have already said their first words.
“We’ve had some ‘Mamas’ and ‘Dadas,’ ” Amal shared. “George was very careful to ensure that ‘Mama’ was the first word.”
Clever move there, George!
She also revealed that mornings are precious to the family, with the babies spending “quality time” in their parents’ bed for a couple hours. Despite her incredibly busy schedule, she makes sure not to schedule any calls until after 8 a.m.

In the same interview, George praised his wife and the incredible work she does, telling the magazine: “She’s the professional, and I’m the amateur. I get to see someone at the absolute top of their game doing their job better than anybody I’ve ever seen.”
The 56-year-old actor also opened up about meeting Amal for the first time at his home in Lake Como, Italy.
“Of course she was beautiful,” he said. “But I also thought she was fascinating, and I thought she was brilliant. Her life was incredibly exciting — the clients she was taking on and the superhuman work that she was doing. I was taken with her from the moment I saw her.”
Amal added that their relationship felt “natural” from the start.
“It felt like the most natural thing in the world,” she said. “Before that experience, I always hoped there could be love that was overwhelming and didn’t require any weighing or decision-making.”
On finding her perfect partner and relationship later than expected in life, she added: “It’s the one thing in life that I think is the biggest determinant of happiness, and it’s the thing you have the least control over. Are you going to meet this person? I was 35 when I met him. It wasn’t obvious that it was going to happen for me. And I wasn’t willing or excited about the idea of getting married or having a family in the absence of that.”
George, who was married to to actress Talia Balsam in his late 20s, said that he didn’t think he’d marry a second time — until, he met Amal.
“If you know anything about my crazy life, you know that I’d pretty much committed to the idea of never marrying again,” he said. “But I started dating Amal, and I immediately knew that something was very different.”
Swoon!
