Brad Pitt and his fiancé Angelina Jolie have appeared at The Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict, in London along with George Clooney’s wife-to-be, Amal Alamuddin.
While the trio didn’t get to catch up at the event, Amal, who is an adviser to the former United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, took the opportunity to sign a UNICEF petition calling for international leaders to “defend women and to commit to protect children in war zones from rape and sexual abuse.”
The same document has also been signed by A-listers including Victoria Beckham and author J.K Rolling’s.
The 36-year-old future Mrs Clooney dressed in a stunning coral outfit with floral pointed-heels, and looked every inch the powerhouse human rights lawyer.
Meanwhile, in a different room, special envoy to the U.N Angelina, delivered an emotional speech where she described rape as a “weapon of war,” alongside British Foreign Secretary William Hague.
“It is a myth that rape is an inevitable part of conflict,” the 39-year-old actress said.
“There is nothing inevitable about it. It is a weapon of war aimed at civilians. It has nothing to do with sex – everything to do with power. It is done to torture and humiliate innocent people and often very young children.”
