It’s hard to believe it’s been two decades since Buffy the Vampire Slayer left a gaping hole in our television viewing – but time couldn’t put a dent in our love for the Scooby Gang!
So when Alyson Hannigan, who played Buff’s bestie Willow, came to town, we HAD to catch up with her.
The actress has obvs done plenty of other awesome stuff since her days in Sunnydale.
We kept right on loving her as, um, band camp attendee Michelle Flaherty in the American Pie franchise, and LOLed along with her as Lily Aldrin for close to 10 years in How I Met Your Mother.
But what we really had to know was… Will Buffy and the crew be back?!

Do you ever watch Buffy episodes back?
I haven’t really. Not because I don’t want to, but more because I don’t think about it but I do want to and I’m sure when my kids are older they’re going to want to.
I do remember tweeting something… I turned on the TV and some channel was having a marathon and I watched a few minutes… Wentworth Miller was on an episode and I tweeted, “Oh my god, wow, I didn’t know Wentworth Miller was on this show.” And within minutes all the screenshots of me and Miller in a scene were sent. And I was like, ‘Alright, note to self, I have to watch the whole episode before tweeting!’
The Buffy gang all just got back together for the 20th anniversary, what was that like?
It was a lot of fun, it was almost as if no time had passed.
We were talking about our age and chiropractors… it was like, ‘Yeah, it’s definitely been 20 years.’ It was really fun and such a great day, I wished we had done more than one photoshoot.
Do you think Willow and her girlfriend Tara would have ended up getting married if the series was filmed today?
I would hope so. I’m sure they would have had some wonderful break-up and get back together [story] where they came back stronger in the end, you know? Instead of the tragedy of her death.
So would you like the show get a reboot?
I like the idea of a Buffy cartoon!
Do you still keep in touch with the gang?
Through social media we do. The only person who I regularly see would be Tommy [Lenk]. Sarah and I run into each other and we also text, but I haven’t seen her since the photoshoot.
Alyson and SMG are still in touch.
Now you’re here in Oz, do you get to do much sightseeing?
Hopefully. Whenever I’ve been to Australia, I’ve always been working so I always had to get back.
It was brutal to be on the plane longer than I was on the ground. I’m really excited and I hear the coffee is fantastic!
