The 29-year-old, who recently welcomed her son Maxwell with fiancé Carson Jory, took to Instagram to share her story.

“Yes, I have had an abortion. I think it is incredibly important that we change how we talk about abortion,” she said.

“The topic typically lives in the shadows which only creates misinformation and stigma.”

Alex isn’t the only Bachelor alum to speak up about the topic, with Matt Agnew’s runner-up Abbie Chatfield also getting candid on her own experiences in the past.

In 2019, shortly after her season aired, Abbie revealed through tears that she had an abortion months before filming began.

In light of her traumatic experience, Abbie said she would cry every time she was asked by producers, Matt’s friends and co-star Sogand Mohtat to talk about babies.

“I’m so sick of having to justify [to these women] why I haven’t been screaming from the rooftops, ‘I want kids’,” she said on the Shameless podcast, adding that she’s been “hesitant” to have a baby ever since.

“At the time, I felt guilty for saying I wanted kids because I aborted one in March last year.”

Elsewhere in Alex’s raw Q&A, the mother-of-two admitted to her 101,000 followers that the third trimester of her most recent pregnancy was “challenging”.

“I was so incredibly fatigued, flat and sick. I just didn’t feel like me,” she said.

“I found talking about how I felt openly with my partner incredibly helpful.”

Alex said seeking support from friends or other pregnant women helped her get through the trying time and also credited meditation and podcasts for alleviating her anxiety.

Alex, who won Richie Strahan’s heart on season four of The Bachelor and later appeared on the second season of Bachelor in Paradise, first announced she was expecting her second baby earlier this year.

In late September, shortly after Maxwell’s arrival, Alex revealed Carson had popped the question.

She posted a video of her gorgeous diamond ring alongside the caption: “Morning coffee forever with you. 01.09.21 #mrsjory”
