12-year-old Rebecca Gibney should be running around in the playground with her classmates.
Instead the Belfast resident, who suffers from blindness, epilepsy and cerebral palsy, is bed-bound as she sees out each day in agony.
Last year, the young girl was tragically told she had just six months to live.
Thankfully, she’s defied the odds and credits Adele’s powerful music as the driving force behind her survival.
Rebecca’s mother has led a tireless Facebook campaign in a bid to get Adele to come and visit her daughter and on Tuesday, all her hard work paid off when she received a phone call from the Grammy winner’s manager.
“I was sitting in the hairdresser today and the manager called and said, ‘Tracy it’s Adele’s manager, I am getting back to you because Adele has seen your Rebecca’s pictures and she was very emotional and she wants to come and meet your daughter,” an overjoyed Tracy explained to Belfast Live.
That day, Adele, 27, enjoyed some quality time with Rebecca at her home. It’s a gesture her family are incredibly grateful for.
“It is unbelievable her dream has come true. Adele was just so nice. I am in shock, I got my baby’s dream to come true,” Tracy said.
“She was so nice – she could not have been nicer. Adele was sat beside her and she was talking to me and my other kid, she was so nice for wee Rebecca,” she added.
Although Rebecca is too sick to attend any shows on the Hello hitmaker’s world tour, which kicked off in Belfast on Monday, her family were given tickets to attend a show.
“I cannot put it into words what it means,” Tracy beamed of the once-in-a-lifetime experience.
