After spending four years away from the spotlight she finally released her third studio album on Friday and it’s breathtaking – but it almost didn’t happen.

As Adele sat down with 60 Minutes Australia she revealed it was thanks to her son Angelo, three, and partner Simon Konecki, 38, that she even made her comeback at all.

“Being in such an amazing relationship with someone that’s so there for me and so loyal and is really part of my core now, that’s what made me write about everything I’ve ever done, because I’ve got his love,” the 27-year-old told the program about her boyfriend, who has a daughter from a previous relationship.

“I know that sounds a bit like I’m trying to write a Hollywood movie but it’s only because of him and our kids and stuff that I’m all right.”

The release of 25 has meant that Adele is well and truly on the promotional press tour, and it seems she’s making up for lost time.

The singer stopped by the BBC in London to perform some of her songs with host, Graham Norton.

During a segment for the special, the Hello songstress put on a disguise, as she labelled herself Jenny, and headed to an Adele impersonator audition – and it had truly heart-warming results.

The mum-of-one chatted with the other performers and they have no idea who is behind the prosthetic nose, until she stars singing with that unmistakable voice.

Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Adele’s comeback is that after 10 Grammys, an Oscar and a Golden Globe she is still that very same girl who grew up with a single mum in North London – except in more expensive clothes.

“I’m waiting for some to send me back to Tottenham or something,” she told 60 Minutes .

But the truth is, even if she were never to sing another a song in her life, Adele would still have well and truly made her mark as one of the greatest performers of this generation.
