Their relationship was touched by tragedy after the couple’s second child Harrison was stillborn after an eight-month pregnancy in 2014. And it seems the tragic event was simply too much for the husband-and-wife of nine years to bear who called it quits in November 2015.
Now, Chrys has taken to Instagram to reveal that the pair will not be spending Christmas as a family with four-year-old son Johnas this year.
In the since-deleted upload, Chrys shared a flashback photo of the couple’s young son, Johnas, eagerly opening presents on Christams Day, 2015.
He captioned the heartbreaking photo with, “This was us last Xmas…a united front for our little fella…until 20 mins ago this was the plan for this year.”
“Does it hurt? Of course it does, I have had him all week and we have discussed how we will be opening presents in the morning,” he added.
“It’s not about Ada and I, it should be about Johnas. He doesn’t know any different.”
Chrys concluded the post by adding the hashtags: ‘Sad’ and ‘broken heart’”.
Life hasn’t been easy for Chrys and Ada, who married in February 2007.
According to reports, the pair struggled with financial issues after a devastating fire at Chris’ restaurant, along with his well-documented battle with depression and wading through the grief of losing their second son.
In 2010 they separated for two months, with Chrys spending time in a Sydney rehab centre for emotional problems.
At the time, the pair was determined to make their marriage work.
“We were growing apart and needed some space” Chrys said at the time. The Home and Away star, added, “We both did a lot of things wrong, but we’re working on getting on the same page with our future.
Sadly, despite desperately trying to make it work for the sake of their son, and even attending couples’ counselling together, it seems the cracks in their relationship became too wide to mend.
