However there are still no details on the respected star’s death.
The 85-year-old’s family released a statement saying, “the Stiller family is deeply saddened to share the beloved Anne Meara passed away last night at the age of 85.”
“Anne’s memory lives on in the hearts of daughter Amy, son Ben, her grandchildren, her extended family and friends, and the millions she entertained as an actress, writer and comedienne,” it read.
The statement continued: “She is survived by her husband and partner in life Jerry Stiller, the two were married for 61 years and worked together almost as long.”
The New York-born actress was known for her roles in Sex and the City, All My Children and the hilarious comedy routine she performed with her husband in the Sixties, Meara and Stiller.
She was a true professional and some of Hollywood’s greatest have paid their respects for the adored actress.
Comedian Steve Martin shared on twitter, “Stiller and Meara have been a wonderful presence in comedy my whole life. Now Anne Meara is gone, and I salute her.”
“With a heavy heart, she was so real,” wrote Rosie O’Donnell along with a picture of the pair.
Between her two children, Ben and Amy, Anne had seven grandchildren, a 65-year-long marriage to Jerry and one of Hollywood’s most enviable careers.
Despite her untimely death, Anne Meara was a woman who lived a full life and our thoughts are with her family during this difficult time.
