Actress Charmian Carr, who was best known for playing the eldest Von Trapp child in The Sound of Music, Liesl, died on Sunday.
Her spokesman said her death was a result of a rare form of dementia and she was 73.
The beloved actress’ passing has seen a flood of tributes on social media with many celebrities coming out to praise her iconic role in the 1965 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical.
Comedian Seth MacFarlane wrote: “So very saddened to hear of the death of Charmian Carr. She leaves behind one of the most memorable performances in movie history.”
Rodgers and Hammerstein also released a statement which said: “It’s always sad when a member of the family passes away – and in the case of the ‘family’ of the movie THE SOUND OF MUSIC, it’s especially sad when it is the first of the group to go”
