Shimmy into your sequined flares because your favourite Swedish power-pop group, ABBA is coming back with new music! At the London Premiere of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again on Monday night, ABBA member Bjorn Ulvaeus spilled details about two new songs the band have been working on.
Ulvaeus revealed hints of how the tracks will sound, “One of them is a pop tune, very danceable,” while “the other is more timeless, more reflective, that is all I will say. It is Nordic sad, but happy at the same time,” he told Billboard.
Bandmate Benny Andersson also hinted that a third song could be in the works, which wouldn’t see release until “Virtual ABBA” hit the road for a tour. While details of the tour remain under wraps, it’s thought the reformed ABBA will preform as holograms.
The name of one of ABBA’s new songs has been released, “I Still Have Faith In You”. The track will be featured in an NBC/BBC TV special set to air in December. The TV special will feature the group’s virtual avatars performing their greatest hits.
Fans who have been waiting 35 years for new music from the band will no doubt be singing, Thank You For The Music!
And in other ABBA news, singer Cher spilled that she’s been working on an entire album of ABBA covers.
