One litle girl, two very different reactions to meeting Obama, then Trump

You don't need to be a body language expert to interpret her reactions to these two US figures.

When Donald Trump met local girl Amariyanna Copeny in Flint, Michigan, he probably didn’t expect the internet to go crazy over the pictures – but the little girl’s reaction to seeing the presidential candidate has caused quite a stir, particularly when compared to meeting President Obama back in May.

Amariyanna is something of a local celebrity. In March, she wrote a letter to Obama telling him what she is doing to stand up for those drinking bad water in her community (Flint has been in the throes of a public health crisis since its water became contaminated with lead in 2014). The young activist became the city’s de facto mascot, and even earned herself the moniker Little Miss Flint.

When Obama visited the city to show his support earlier this year, she was overjoyed to see the President, and there were plenty of pictures of her smiling and hugging him. Compare that to the images of her meeting Donald Trump this week, and you can see why some voters are having a bit of a giggle.

And while we could probably guess which way Little Miss Flint would be voting if she were old enough to do so, her mother LuLu explained that she remains undecided about the election, and wanted to see what Trump could bring to the discussion.

“Hillary’s been here, we hear what she had to say” she told the Flint Journal. “Now I want to hear what [Mr Trump] has to say”.
