Zac Efron had no idea his entire world would be turned upside down when he walked into a local Byron Bay cafe and was served by 25-year-old Aussie waitress Vanessa Valladares.
But since falling madly in love and embarking on a real estate hunt for his dream home Down Under, friends back home are worried they’ve lost their party pal forever.
“Everyone’s like, ‘When are you coming home?'” says a friend.
“We miss him! But Zac’s focus is on Vanessa and he brushes off the question. He’s completely lost it over this girl and says he’s never felt so free and alive – she cuts through all his Hollywood bullsh*t and he can’t get enough of it.”
While Zac, 32, continues to set up permanent roots in Byron, he’s expected to return to the US to film the Three Men And A Baby remake.
“He’s really torn between his cosy scene with Vanessa and his crazy career,” adds the pal.
“This is the first time he’s able to be himself, not ‘Showtime Zac’. He’s finding the whole experience in Australia life-changing.”
Zac and his girlfriend have been enjoying time together in Byron Bay.

The couple have been spotted holding hands and grabbing takeaway food together and were also photographed leaving a plane in Ballina following a skiing holiday in Thredbo.
“Zac met Ness earlier in the (northern hemisphere) summer. They started hanging out in July and recently took a ski trip together,” a source told PEOPLE.
“You can tell that they are having fun. She spends a lot of time at this house.”
Vanessa is an undeniable beauty.

“You are a beauty. And so very lucky for getting a hug from Zac Efron,” one cheekily commented on a snap uploaded in July.
“You are so beautiful. Your boyfriend must adore you,” teased another.
