Now it seems there’s more to the break-up than the construction manager first let on.
Taking to Instagram last week, the 32-year-old said distance was proving too challenging.
But a source close to the pair says it was Sam who ended it because Sasha was too controlling.
“Sash holds a lot of power over Sam and she hasn’t been herself for a while,” says a friend, adding they split months ago.

“They kept it quiet because Sam couldn’t face going through another public break-up after she was dumped by [former Bachelor] Blake Garvey.”
News of the split came days after images surfaced of Sasha cuddling Elisa Nolan, a woman he’s known for years, on the Gold Coast, sparking rumours he’s already moved on.
“It is absolutely not true,” insists a rep for the reality TV star. “She is an old family friend.”
Sources reveal Sam ended the relationship because Sasha was too controlling.
Last week, the reality TV couple finally announced their split new via a joint statement.
The sad news follows Sam’s cryptic Instagram post that alluded to trouble in paradise.
The bubbly blonde recently penned, “Christmas isn’t always sunshine and rainbows for everyone.. I’m sending nothing but good vibes, love, light & happiness • I promise 2017 is going to be YOUR year xxxx.”
Sam met Sasha on reality show The Bachelorette back in 2015.
During the course of their relationship, the couple did long distance with Sam based in Sydney for her radio show and Sasha living on the South Coast in NSW for his construction job.
