Why everyone’s blowing up over this “sexist” episode of The Bachelor

Really Bachelor producers? It's 2016, guys.

In case you missed it, last night’s episode of The Bachelor, was filled with the regular drama: single dates, not-so-subtle speculation over ‘who’s won Richie’s heart’ and more than enough awkward laughs from Richie himself. One of the most notable things, though, was Richie’s single date with mum-of-one, Alex.

While we could go on about how um heated their makeout session was, it was the date activity that had people talking more than anything…

Rather than taking Alex out on a romantic canoeing trip, or a walk along the beach, Richie took Alex on an all-expenses-paid shopping trip. While Alex looked like she was having a helluva time, fans took to Twitter to share their frustration with the activity choice, calling it stereotypical and downright ‘sexist’.

Especially when he then helped her with her shoes…

It didn’t help that Richie also made the sweeping statement that ‘women love clothes’. facepalm

As though that wasn’t controversial enough, they followed up with asking the rest of the contestants to look after fake babies, y’know, to test their ‘maternal skills’.
