It was the relationship that pulled viewers the world over into a whirlwind of romance, passion and scandal. And now, new details surrounding Sam’s controversial engagement to bachelor Blake Garvey have surfaced.
In 2014, Blake, 33, sparked national outrage after proposing to Sam on national television as part of 2014’s The Bachelor finale, only to break up with her shortly after.
According to The Daily Mail, a source close to Blake has revealed that Sam’s party-driven lifestyle is what caused him to question the longevity of their relationship.
The source said: “After they stopped filming Sam would call him drunk at nights and he realised they were on different pages.”
The source claims that the drunken phone calls led Blake to believe that she wasn’t “potential ‘mother of my children’ material.”
Adding, “She was a party girl, it wouldn’t have worked.”
“They mutually agreed to split despite her [Sam] claiming otherwise.”
You don’t need to be a Bachelor enthusiast to know Blake proposed to Sam on national television, only to dump her for the woman who took out third place on the reality show, Louise Pillidge, 28.
Speaking of the relationship, the source said: “He desperately wanted to pick Louise but felt she was not able to handle the media spotlight. The producers convinced him to go with Sam as she was better for telly.”
After revealing that there was in fact pressure to propose, the source said that Blake, “did really like Sam”, but was always more interested in pursuing a relationship with Louise.
Blake and Louise have since separated after an 18-month relationship.
As for Sam, she went on to publically mend her broken heart as Australia’s very first Bachelorette in 2015. It was on The Bachelorette that Sam fell in love with consrutcion worker Sasha.
Sadly, the pair have since split.
The duo confirmed the sad news through their joint manager, Georgina Harrop.
“‘After 18 months together, Sam Frost and Sasha Mielczarek have come to a mutual decision to end their relationship,” she told the Courier Mail in a statement.
“It is important to stress that there is no bitterness or scandal, they have just come to the realisation that the best way forward is to separate.”
“They wholeheartedly respect and cherish the friendship they have for one another which will continue moving forward,” the statement continued.
“They wish to thank everyone for their love and support over the past 18 months.”
It seems the radio star is back on the market!
