For Turia Pitt, whose life once hung in the balance, every birthday is extra special, so today we celebrate the incredible life of one of Australia’s finest women!

There was once a time when Turia Pitt’s life was uncertain, her pain immense and future unknown, but on her 28th birthday, now more than ever this inspirational Aussie has everything to look forward to.

Just this week, the beautiful news broke that the burns survivor is set to wed the love of her life Michael Hoskins. “Stoked to have this beautiful man in my life! You bring out the best in me and I can’t wait for the rest of our lives together,” she lovingly penned on Instagram.

At just 28, Turia has jammed so much into her life, from running ultramarathons, surviving the most heart-wrenching of circumstances and all the while raising huge amounts of money for burn victims in developing countries.

She once expressed to the ABC, “I’ve got an amazing partner, beautiful family and friends. I live in one of the best places in Australia in Ulladulla.”

Before adding: “so when people say they feel sorry for me, I don’t really get it. I don’t feel sorry for myself at all.”

Happy birthday Turia Pitt you are a true inspiration in every sense of the word!

As she rings in her 28th birthday, Turia will be hiking the Inca Trail in Peru.

Since her life-changing accident in 2011, Turia’s remarkable story of survival has become a true inspiration to the nation.

“I know it’s hard to say I’m lucky, but I am lucky cause the situation could have been a lot worse,” she told 60 Minutes in 2012 when reflecting on the bush fire that almost took her life as she ran a marathon in remote Western Australia.

“I’ve got an amazing partner, beautiful family and friends. I live in one of the best places in Australia in Ulladulla.”

The mining engineer first met her now fiance back in high school.

After pursuing their careers the pair eventually began dating, before relocating to remote Western Australia where they both worked in the mines.

“Stoked to have this beautiful man in my life! You bring out the best in me and I can’t wait for the rest of our lives together,” Turia lovingly penned on Instagram following their exciting announcement.

Turia has shared her story of survival and has since gone on to be awarded the NSW Premier’s Woman of the Year in 2014.

That same year, she was also a state finalist for Young Australian of the Year.

The motivational speaker also does some seriously inspiring charity work with companies like Interplast and DonateLife.
