After months of waiting for Sarah Abo to join the Today show team as host, it has finally happened!
On January 16, 2023, the former 60 Minutes presenter finally sat next to her new co-host Karl Stefanovic and fans couldn’t be more thrilled.
To celebrate Sarah’s first day, the Today show Instagram account shared a video of some behind the scenes content, with Karl up to his usual shenanigans – even before the sun rose.
“Knocked it out of the park,” the morning show host wrote.
And fans thought so too as they flooded the comment section with praise for their new morning duo.
“Love Karl and Sarah together,” one wrote.
The new diversity on-screen did not go unnoticed as one fan commented it was “great to see some cultural diversity.” Sarah was born in Damascus, Syria but moved to Australia with her family when she was four years old.
Meanwhile another follower referenced the rough wake-up call Sarah had in early 2022 when she guest-hosted the breakfast show for roughly eight weeks but slept through three alarms and arrived late to set.
“So she turned up on time?” they asked.
It was all fun and games when Karl and the producers organised a special segment where A Current Affair news presenter Steve Marshall chased Sarah in the car park while asking her to explain why she was late.
Despite the embarrassing moment, the Today show team have shared a lot of laughs.
After the announcement that she would be replacing Allison Langdon as Today show host was made last year, she offered: “I am thrilled to be joining the wonderful and hard-working team at Today, who manage to inform the nation every morning while also having a lot of fun.”
“The 3am alarm will be an adjustment, but I’m looking forward to keeping Karl on his toes.”
