But in a post to social media this morning, Chandler revealed Terri’s adorable nickname while saying thanks to his “amazing wife” and “awesome mum-in-law” for the support during his time in hospital.

“Just wanted to write a note to my amazing wife. I had to get my tonsils out and she has been taking the best care of me. I’m so lucky to be loved by you, @bindisueirwin,” the Instagram post read.

“Also, thank you Bunny (my awesome mum-in-law) for taking care of Grace while we’ve been in the hospital and I’ve been recovering.”

Grace clearly loves her uncle.

The iconic Australian family gave a hint to Terri’s nickname in early 2021 during an interview with pregnancy website The Bump, and by no surprise it had a link to an animal.

“We spent a long time searching for grandma names that also had an animal link,” Bindi said.

The name was inspired by an old neighbour of Terri’s during her childhood in Oregon, who was called ‘bunny’ and was a grandmother figure to the neighbourhood.

In a throwback photo posted to Instagram, the likeness of Grace and Bindi was remarkable. But fans have also spotted little Grace being a spitting image of her grandmother as she inherited Terri’s downturned eyes.

Bindi’s younger brother Robert Irwin also has a nickname, but unlike ‘bunny’ it has no connection to an animal. Instead Robert wanted to be know as the fun uncle or ‘funcle’ for short.

The family continue to keep Steve Irwin in their hearts, and Bindi has planned to show her daughter – now over a year old – the many documentaries and photos collected of the Australian legend.
