From the very moment Stu Laundy received Sophie Monk’s last rose on The Bachelorette finale – there were doubts.

In the week of the finale, the millionaire was spotted with a mystery blonde, then Sophie and Stu’s first public interview raised many eyebrows.

But we all hoped they’d get their Osher-approved happily ever after.

Sadly, on Australia Day – exactly three months after season final aired – Sophie Monk announced her relationship was over.

While the pair have spoken candidly about the split, Stu has taken a moment to clarify many of our concerns.

The romance lasted six months.

Talking to Confidential, he said, “I’ve got a friend for life … I think Soph and I were meant to be mates like a fate thing.”

The dad-of-four then admitted the blonde beauty was never the love of his life and that spot was already taken by his ex-wife.

In 2013, his marriage to Rachel ended but the exes still co-parent their four daughters together and share custody.

“Soph’s and my story is our story,” Stu added.

“I’m sorry to Australia but the reality is most of these stories will finish with the couple not together.”

Stu and Rachel finalised their divorce settlement late last year, but News Corp reported the multi-millionaire had held off the divorce in the hope of reconciling with his wife.

Stu said: “I prefer being married absolutely. (Divorce) wasn’t my decision. But any chance of reconciling is pretty-much over I would say.”

“I’ve got a friend for life!”

There was also speculation that Stu, who is heir to a rumoured $500 million fortune, was “shopping around” to sell his story to the highest bidder.

But the proud dad says that’s the “last thing” he’d ever do would rather leave the spotlight for good.

“I’d like to fade out but I’ll serve anyone in Australia a beer if they ever want to pop in.”
