TV’s favourite Bachelorette Sophie Monk has been hiding a very big secret – she’s engaged!
According to Woman’s Day‘s sources, the vivacious blonde’s handsome boyfriend Joshua Gross, 42, whisked her away to Sydney for the week before it’s believed he dropped to one bended knee and asked for her hand in marriage – and Sophie’s reply was a resounding yes!
Our insider says marketing executive Joshua surprised Sophie, 40, with an oval solitaire engagement ring with a hidden halo, which he designed with the help of the TV star’s favourite jeweller Luke Rose – and it’s estimated to cost a cool $25,000.
“Josh picked up the ring in Sydney last week and then surprised her by popping the question,” tells a source close to the pair.
The former Bardot singer was seen looking radiant at the ARIA Awards in the harbour city just days before it’s believed Josh made the grand gesture.
The big news comes just a few months after the pair, who met on a flight in 2018, celebrated their second anniversary.
Despite rumours of a family rift swirling earlier this year when it was revealed Sophie had blocked both her mother and sister on social media after they expressed concern over her whirlwind romance with Joshua, our insider says they’ve since made peace.
“Josh wasn’t immediately accepted in the family and they had some hesitation, but the family have finally come on board,” the source tells. “They’ve set up a home and they are very much in love.”
While Sophie seems to have finally found her Mr Right, she’s had to kiss her fair share of high-profile celebrities to find The One.
The Love Island host, who openly admits to being unlucky in love, has dated a string of men including British actor Jason Statham, US TV host Ryan Seacrest, Entourage star Kevin Connolly and Aussie actor Sam Worthington before he married Lara Bingle.
She also famously got engaged to Good Charlotte star Benji Madden in December 2006, but their relationship ended in 2008.
American billionaire Jimmy Esebag then proposed to her in 2011. She initially described him as “a keeper” but broke off the engagement a few months later.
Most recently she starred on Ten’s The Bachelorette where she was wooed by pub entrepreneur Stu Laundy, but the couple split months after the show ended in bitter circumstances.
But Sophie says being with Joshua is completely different to her past hook-ups.
“I wasn’t comfortable with myself and would choose people who weren’t right for me,” she has said. “When you don’t feel good about yourself, you attract the wrong thing or you look for somebody to fulfil you. But you need to meet someone who’s a bonus to you, not someone to fix you. That took me ages [to realise].”
Sophie admits her relationship with Joshua is “the best” and the two regularly post couple updates – especially as they’re now living together.
“I’ve never had someone move in with me – ever,” she said. “I love it. I wake up, he gets me coffee… It’s so nice having him there. He’s perfect.”
