The 52-year-old passed away in the early hours of March 4 from a heart attack while on holiday with his mates in Thailand.

Emily, a DJ who dated Shane after he and British actress Liz Hurley broke up in 2013, praised her “friend and confidante” for his devotion to his kids.

“You were my friend and confidante. We’d play. You were the most fun. Your kids, you were adorable with them,” she penned alongside a photo of herself and Shane.

“The loss feels too much. You gave the gift of your light, numerous memories, and I’ll always treasure them 💙.”

Emily’s tribute comes four days after telling News Corp that she and Shane were planning on hanging out sometime this week.

“I’m so sorry and I’m thinking of Jackson, Summer and Brooke, and the whole Warne family,” she said.

The pair met in 2006 when the 39-year-old beauty was hired as a model for the launch of Shane’s poker company. However they didn’t strike up a romance until years later.

Since parting ways with Shane in 2014, Emily has always spoken highly of the father-of-three in the press.

“We had a really good time together. It was a short few months and we had a lot of fun and we’re still good friends – so it’s all good,” she told The Morning Show in 2016.

Shane took to Twitter in September 2014 to announce his split with Emily, and praised the model as “a really special person”.

“Emily Scott is an amazing lady, a really special person. We wish each other nothing but the best & as I said, will remain awesome friends.”

Emily’s statement comes after Liz took to Instagram to pay tribute to her ex-fiancé.

“I feel like the sun has gone behind a cloud forever. RIP my beloved Lionheart @shanewarne23,” she penned on Instagram in the wake of his death.

The unlikely pair met at the races in July 2010, and when pictures surfaced of them kissing in London, their love became official to the world.

From there, the relationship they forged moved quickly as they embraced life together and eventually got engaged on a yacht in 2013.

Unfortunately, the pair broke up that same year, but their separation caused no animosity.

In an interview with The Mirror, the legend revealed his years with Liz “were the happiest of (his) life,” and they simply “fizzled out.”
