Her older brother Karl tragically passed away last October following a 15 year battle with brain cancer.
And over the weekend, Home And Away actress Sarah Stewart (nee Roberts) paid a touching tribute to her late sibling on what would have been his 46th birthday.
The 35-year-old posted a beautiful black-and-white snap with her brother Karl and sister Lauren Roberts, which showed the ladies planting a loving kiss on their brother.
“Cheers to the big boss, the head honcho, the big squirt & (wait for this one…) the grand master (as he preferred to be referred to!),” Sarah explained.
“You would’ve been 46 today! We are all so grateful for you. I feel you beside me when beauty brightens, when kindness glows & when music echoes,” she added of Karl’s legacy.
“Love and miss you like crazy everyday. #bigsquirt 🐳🎈,” the actress signed off the post.
Sarah’s husband and Home And Away co-star James Roberts was quick to comment on the upload, writing: “Happy birthday big man,” alongside a love-heart emoji.
While her brother-in-law and James’ twin brother Nick said: “Happy birthday brother.”
The much-loved Home And Away actress, who plays Willow on the show, announced her brother’s death in October 2019.
“Three months ago today he walked me down the aisle and now he is walking with the angels. I’m left with a hole in my heart and 34 years of beautiful memories, growing up together as children into adults,” the actress said at the time.
Karl, who lived in Dublin, Ireland, was a successful businessman and worked in the PDF software space. He also founded Nitro — a company that now has 135 employees and is headquartered in San Francisco.
While he was modest about his achievements, he described himself on Twitter as “a seasoned speaker, moderator, industry commentator, software developer, entrepreneur and a driving force in the early days of the PDF industry.”
Sarah told WHO she and James Stewart decided to marry in Ireland so her beloved brother — who was too sick to travel overseas— could attend the wedding. The couple tied the knot at Luttrellstown Castle last July.
Since Karl’s passing, Sarah has embarked on a new charity mission and is set to participate in the upcoming Walk4BrainCancer event “to raise money for world-class brain cancer research, advocacy and awareness.”
