An Arab Prince once offered Claudia Schiffer $1.8 million to go to dinner with him.
As one of the world’s most beautiful women, the German supermodel says she received “loads of weird” requests, but this royal proposal was the “strangest.”
“He asked if he could hire me for a dinner for a million pounds. I declined – and some other supermodel took it.”
Speaking with talk show host Jonathan Ross, it is not clear just how indecent the Prince’s proposal was. Celebrities are regularly paid for simply making appearances at parties or events and they’re not necessarily beautiful women. Orlando Bloom’s booking fee is said to start at $200,000 and Keanu Reeves will make an appearance for between $250,000 and $350,000.
But whatever the details of the Prince’s request, a million-dollar offer for the pleasure of her company is a far cry from Schiffer’s early life. The supermodel says at school she was a “gangly youngster” without any friends.
“I was the loser at school. Everyone called me ‘Duck’ because my bum stuck out, and I walked kind of funny because my legs are a bit funny, and I was really tall.
“Everyone was sort of the same height except me and I didn’t have any friends.”
Although she has been photographed and walked catwalks for the world’s biggest brands, she says that she is naturally a shy person who struggled to hide her blushes when she was modelling.
“I would always turn bright red, and so then I became even more shy, thinking, “I don’t want to be here”. Once I put the make-up on I’d go, “OK, I can cope, no one can see what I’m thinking”.’
“I am just shy when there are lots of people. I’m OK when we’re just one on one, or maybe four people. I’m a really, really shy person.”
