Nigella Lawson’s list of demands in her divorce from billionaire Charles Saatchi has been made public.
While the 54-year-old domestic goddess could have requested a huge cash settlement after her decade of marriage to Saatchi, she asked for nothing more than the contents of her kitchen.
“She adores the indulgences in life – good food, good face cream, good bed linen,” Nigella’s friend Nathaniel Goldberg told British Vogue. “But she’s not spoilt.
“The very fact she walked away from her marriage without asking for anything other than the contents of her kitchen is testament to that.”
Goldberg also revealed Nigella shunned expensive removalists, instead asking some burly fishmonger friends to move the heavy appliances and boxes of homewares out of the London home she shared with Saatchi.
Nigella then threw one of her famous parties for everyone who helped her through the split – from the aforementioned fishmongers to her lawyers, her agent and her makeup artist.
Goldberg reported Nigella is finally starting to piece her life back together again after a horror year that saw her choked by Saatchi in a Mayfair restaurant, endure a very public divorce and admit to using drugs in a sensational court case.
“I’ve been able to take pleasure from things again,” Nigella is said to have told Goldberg and other friends. “I had an impromptu dinner party recently and felt an incredible sense of comfort come over me.
“I realised there was nobody coming who I would be uncomfortable in front of wearing just socks and leggings and no make-up.”
